About Department
Sociology as a subject for study was introduced in Bhogawati Mahavidyalaya in 1971, with the establishment of the college. Up to 1994- 95, the subject was taught at B. A. Part I and II level as an optional subject. From the academic year 1995-96, Sociology was introduced as a special subject at B. A. Part III level, and the separate department of Sociology started from the same year. Sociology subject has so many branches, but the following different papers are taught in the Sociology department at under graduate level
Vision:
By considering the students as the
most important element of education, the Department of Sociology has kept the
vision for the students. The department desires to inculcate the following
approaches in the students.
Mission and Goals:
1. Giving detailed and
regular guidance about sociology
2. To organise the workshops
and seminars on social development that occur under the sociology department
3. To arrange the lecture of
scholars for the students
4. To make the reference
books available to the students
5. To conduct the oral and
written examination for the quality evaluation of the students
