About Department
Department of botany established in
1971. The two-teaching faculty Dr. U. H. Patil and Prof. R. S. Bhosale are
shouldering the department. The department is actively engaged in student
centric and various social activities. In the year 2025-26 the department has
organized three workshops Financial Literacy, Job Opportunities in Rual
development and Environment Conservation. Also, Department organized Lichen
exhibition, Medicinal Plant exhibition, Wild seed Collection and exhibition,
Tree plantation programs, plastic free campus activity etc. To encourage
students, the department is conducting seminars, group activities, Quiz etc.
Dr. U. H. Patil is Shivaji University Recognized PG Teacher and Recognized Ph.
D. and M. Phill guide. He has published 20 research paper, 18 text books for B.
Sc. Level. Mr. R. S. Bhosale is working on the lichen for his Ph. D. He
reported three lichen species, new to Maharashtra.

To equip students with a comprehensive understanding of plant sciences and to prepare them for lifelong learning by drawing attention to the vast knowledge of the plant world.
Mission
• To use both conventional and non-conventional tools to understand plant processes to develop human resource.• To know the importance and scope of Botany and explore the diversity of living organisms. • To develop a scientific approach in the student’s mind and to impart knowledge of science as the basic objective of education. • To expose themselves to the diversity amongst the life forms. • To instil an understanding of the importance of plants in ecosystems, and the need for conservation. • To make aware about natural resources and environment and the importance of conversing it. • To develop the ability for the application of acquired knowledge in the fields of life so as to make our country self-reliant & self-sufficient.
