About Department
The Department of Political Science was established in 1995 with the objective of imparting quality education in political science and developing democratic values among students. The department organizes various academic and co-curricular activities to enhance students' understanding of political institutions, governance, and constitutional values. Every year, the department conducts study tours to political institutions and historical places. These visits help students gain practical knowledge about Local Self-Government Institutions and the process of decentralization of governmental powers. The department also celebrates Constitution Day annually to promote constitutional awareness, integrity, and democratic values among students. The department regularly organizes seminars, workshops, conferences, and guest lectures to broaden students' knowledge of political theories, governance systems, and contemporary political issues

Course Objective and Course Outcome
Programme Outcomes (POs)
After successful completion of the M.A. Political Science Programme,
students will be able to:
PO1: Demonstrate advanced knowledge of political theories, ideologies,
institutions, governance systems, and international relations.
PO2: Critically analyze political issues, public policies, governance
structures, and contemporary political developments.
PO3: Apply research methodologies, qualitative and quantitative techniques,
and data analysis in political studies.
PO4: Evaluate constitutional, administrative, and political processes using
theoretical and empirical approaches.
PO5: Communicate political arguments, research findings, and policy
recommendations effectively through academic and professional platforms.
PO6: Develop leadership, policy analysis, decision-making, and
problem-solving skills in public and institutional contexts.
PO7: Demonstrate commitment to democratic governance, ethical values, human
rights, social justice, and public welfare.
PO8: Pursue advanced research, doctoral studies, teaching careers, public
administration, civil services, and professional development.

After completion of the M.A. Political Science Programme, students will

PSO1: Critically evaluate major political theories, ideologies,
and contemporary debates in political science.
PSO2: Analyze the functioning of political institutions,
governance systems, and public administration from comparative and
interdisciplinary perspectives.
PSO3: Conduct independent research using appropriate research
methodologies and analytical frameworks.
PSO4: Examine public policy formulation, implementation,
evaluation, and governance challenges at different levels.
PSO5: Assess political developments in India and the world with
reference to constitutionalism, democracy, and globalization.
PSO6: Interpret international relations, foreign policy, global
governance, and emerging geopolitical issues.
PSO7: Apply advanced knowledge and analytical skills to address
political, administrative, and societal problems.
PSO8: Demonstrate academic excellence and professional competence
for careers in teaching, research, policy-making, public service, media, and

The Department of Political
Science regularly organizes and participates in academic, co-curricular, and
extension activities such as seminars, workshops, guest lectures, debates,
poster presentations, Constitution Day celebrations, voter awareness campaigns,
educational visits, field surveys, and study tours. These activities enhance
students’ understanding of political theories, governance systems,
constitutional values, public administration, and contemporary political
issues. They also develop research aptitude, leadership qualities,
communication skills, civic responsibility, democratic awareness, and
professional competencies among students. Through these activities, the
department promotes active citizenship, social commitment, and holistic
personality development.
